The idea of Star Wars-inspired furniture might have you thinking they belong in a kid’s room, but acclaimed Filipino designer Kenneth Cobonpue’s striking pieces are anything but.
Infused with the award-winning designer’s (he was awarded Designer of the Year 2014 by Maison & Objet Asia) contemporary aesthetic, subtlety is key for these statement pieces from his eponymous label, which will fit right in with any modern, sophisticated home.
In an interview with Philippine Star, Cobonpue shared, “At first, I said, you don’t need me for this because I don’t make replicas of machines, and Star Wars fans will only buy something if there’s the face of Darth Vader on it—I don’t do that. They said ‘No, no, no. We want you to interpret through the lens of a Filipino designer.'”

You can jet off – we mean, lounge in your very own TIE fighter armchairs (which come with accompanying tables), or cosy up in the Vader Easy Armchair, which draws on none other than central character Darth Vader’s iconic helmet. There’s even a Sidious Easy Armchair, a nod to the evil Emperor Palpatine, with a backrest that bears an uncanny resemblance to his unmistakeable hood.
Han Solo’s Wookie friend, Chewbacca gets his moment too, in the form of the affectionately named Chewie Rocking Stool. It’s even decorated with a fabric version of his signature bandolier.

Last but not least, there’s the ultra-cool Little Jedi Lamp, which features a crowd of Jedi battling a Sith whilst armed with LED lightsabers. It’s available both as a floor lamp or as a pendant lamp.
The lamp is crafted from salago fiber, powder coated steel and glass rods.
Prices start at US$655 for the TIE Fighter tables and the Vader armchair’s priced at a cool US$4,320. For more information, visit www.kennethcobonpue.com. Kenneth Cobonpue furniture is distributed in Singapore at JANUS et Cie, 11 Beach Road Suite, #01-02.
