Shopping for the home is all about catering to one’s aesthetic and senses, as Goodrich Gallery offers in their new experiential shopping experience. After a year’s planning and renovation, the homegrown brand reopened its doors to the public in November 2021. The Goodrich name is a familiar one on the design scene – established in 1983, the brand has been synonymous with quality interior finishes.
This time, Goodrich has outdone themselves with a new level of interactivity in their expansive 350sqm gallery on the ground floor of its flagship building at Changi South Lane. Customers now have the opportunity to view their thousands of wallpapers, wall coverings, fabrics, carpets and floorings up close on full-sized panels. An extensive library of interior design books and resources is also available for further inspiration.
Known as a purveyor of luxury wall coverings, fabrics, carpets, and floorings since 1983, the Goodrich brand has truly evolved with the times. With their tens of thousands of designs, colours, and patterns available for browsing in an immersive shopping experience, it’s easier than ever to envision your ideal home or individual spaces like a nursery, home office, or balcony.
Conceptualised as a real-life mood board, the gallery was curated to address the design challenges of modern homes, offices, hotels, and institutions. Upon entry, you’ll encounter the Goodrich Hall of Fame first, and walk through a zone highlighting fabrics for curtains, leathers for upholstery, and more.
The heart of Goodrich Gallery houses Singapore’s most diverse collection of wall finishes, including wallpapers, vinyl, textiles, glass films, and even protective or writable surfaces. You’ll also be able to explore natural handcrafted or hand-painted finishes. Both homeowners and interior designers will be able to explore various interior finishes suitable for every purpose.
The next zone showcases floor covering products that include carpet rugs, carpet tiles, and vinyl flooring. Goodrich also offers customisation services, so you can have a specially-designed rug that’s properly sized for your home. Throughout the gallery, you’ll also find an extensive range of vinyl floorings, like the currently-popular herringbone and marble designs laid out on a large floor area, so you can better visualise how they look in your home.
Each spacious, well-lit zone allows you to browse in comfort and feel the materials – and the best part? You can bring the kids along, as there’s an entertainment area for children in the middle of the gallery to keep them occupied while you shop.
If you’re looking to see the products in action, there are five lifestyle concept niches, which have been modelled after various residential and commercial concepts. There’s a living room, bedroom, children’s playroom, hotel venue, and hospitality venue. Each one tells a story – the living room, for instance, recognises the importance of versatility for a family with working parents and schoolchildren during the pandemic, showcasing wall panels that help to segment areas for privacy while still looking stylish.
“We would like to help more Singaporeans realize their dream homes. We see this as a big step in improving the traditional interior design planning process making it easy and accessible for everyone,” shares Mr. Yasushi Furukawa, Group Chief Executive Officer of Goodrich Global.
“This newly revamped Goodrich Gallery celebrates individuality, personal expression, and a broad representation of interior themes. As a homegrown brand, Goodrich has always held the value that it is about more than just products, it is about people.”
Interior designers, architects, contractors, and property developers too can take inspiration from the ecologically certified interior materials that Goodrich showcases as part of its hospitality furnishings range, including wood, stone, and silicone fabric. Its hospitality, healthcare, and childcare showrooms demonstrate how designers can create the commercial spaces of the future, with a focus on sustainability, anti-microbial, easy-maintenance, and smart products.
Interactivity is encouraged at the Goodrich Gallery, with design touches that let both homeowners and designers freely mix and compare products. These include flip panels, which allow visitors to examine wall covering samples and even detach them for an up-close comparison with other products. You can even take home the memo samples of wallpapers, fabrics, carpets, and vinyl flooring planks to see how they look with your furniture and walls.
There are also plenty of spaces for discussion, including table-top service counters for laying out of materials, and two meeting rooms with whiteboard walls that let designers and clients get into in-depth design discussions.
With over 60 international brands to choose from under one roof, including Japanese, European, and American brands, the Goodrich commitment to excellence and quality is evident. But more importantly, it’s about bridging the emotional connection between one’s environment and sense of self, a belief the brand has held dear since its inception and continues to uphold even today.
“As we move into a more socially connected generation with an eye for Insta-friendly spaces, we look forward to stunning and aspirational interiors to invigorate our living spaces, says Jean Leong, Head of Marketing and Communications. “After all, creativity is an ongoing journey, not a destination.”
