Singaporeans are no strangers to the Chatuchak weekend market. But behind this bustling arena of shops is JJ Plaza, another spot to check out.
If you frequent Chatuchak Market, you’ll know that the sprawling market is sectioned into:
- Clothes and accessories
- Handicrafts, ceramics
- Furniture and home decor, antiques, art
- Food
- Plants
There’s also a very cruel and unfortunate pet section that we will not recommend nor go into here.

Mango Siam Furniture Store
Mango Siam is a furniture store specialising in Thai teak wood sourced from Chiang Mai. You can also get your teak wood furniture custom-made with them.

Chinese House Chatuchak
There are two Chinese House furniture stores in Bangkok, both in Chatuchak. One is located along Senanikom 1 Road Branch and is a standalone, massive building. The other is located within the JJ market itself.

ML Living
If you prefer something more posh, luxurious, and decadent, go for ML Living.
There are two ML Living stores, one in the upscale Central Chidlom, the other within the JJ Market.
ML Living is located at Chatuchak Plaza, Zone C, Soi 3, Room No. 108 and Chatuchak Weekend Market, Section 8&28.

Saturday Furniture Chatuchak
A furniture store that’s catered to locals instead, Saturday Furniture has two outlets – one at Ideo Mobi Rama 9 (90 Rama IX Road), and another in Jatujak Plaza (JJ Plaza).
Most of their descriptions and social media platforms are in Thai, though all you really need to read is the price tag.
You’ll find designer replicas aplenty, such as Hay Palisade chairs for 3,200 to 4,200 THB ($129 to $169).
Saturday Furniture is located in Jatujak Plaza, 599 Kamphaeng Phet 2 Rd, Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900, Thailand.

Loft Life Bangkok (May have closed)
Loft Life Bangkok is a must-visit for vintage and antique lovers who want to pick up statement pieces. Goods on sale here include barber chairs, old luggage trunks, typewriters and gramophones.
Loft Life Bangkok is located at 76 Zone B Soi 4, JJ Plaza, Chatuchak.
Chatuchak Weekend Market opens every Tuesday to Sunday, with vendors selling mostly home furniture and home goods.

Timmer
Timmer, which is run by giant furniture importer Champaca Wood, specialises in compact pieces for small homes. The range of furniture, which comes in wood such as oak and teak, includes dining tables, desks, side tables, dressers and stools. It ships to Singapore.
If you prefer visiting in person, Timmer unfortunately doesn’t have its own registered address on Google.
You’ll have to drop off at the Ministry of Commerce, and walk down the main road towards the woodworker’s factory.

Eggwhite
Crafted from parawood, a light-coloured tropical wood, the furniture here can be easily assembled and taken apart – good for those who want to ship it back to Singapore. The range includes shoe cabinets, racks, chairs, trays and side tables. This furniture and homeware accessories brand was started three years ago by Nithinant Co, a wooden furniture factory.
There are three Eggwhite furniture stores in Bangkok, namely the factory at 259 M. 1 Bangpu, Muang, Samutprakarn, a showroom at 998/80 M.6, Phraeksa Rd, Mueang, Samutprakarn 10280 (outside Bangkok), and a mini showroom at 99/4 Prasert-Manukitch Rd, Nuanchan, Bueng Kum, Bangkok 10230 (outer Bangkok).
The last option would be nearest for you if you’re travelling to Bangkok, around 30mins by car (without traffic jam).

Whoop Studio
Whoop Studio calls its designs New Asian Minimalism. Its pieces may be simple, but are also multi-functional and have pleasing sculptural forms.
Archithai, a dining table with an old teak top, has legs made of metal wires. As the legs are hollow, books can be stacked within them.
There is also Baan, a multi-use shelf made of wood and steel. Shaped like a house (right), the shelves are adjustable. A clothes hanger and hat rack have also been worked into the design.
The brand was started in 2011 by furniture manufacturer and exporter S.T.S Product Co. The range includes chairs, sofas, benches and cabinets.

Yesterday Once Again
Founded in 1988 by Mr Piao, Yesterday Once Again is an antique Chinese furniture store that sources antique Chinese furniture from China, and reproduces their own “antiques”.
These Chinese furniture pieces are classy, well shaped, and will sit well in a modern contemporary home.
Above is a reproduced antique-looking Chinese sideboard with three drawers, two doors, and moveable shelves. Sideboard is built entirely from Elm wood, finished with lacquer.

Korakot
Finally, for the avid travellers hunting down a local piece of unique furniture that will serve as travel memorabilia, Korakot is the place to go.
Founded by Korakot Aromdee in 2006, Korakot is a furniture company specialising in bamboo woven home furnishings, such as lamps, and decorative serving trays.
Korakot uses Seesuk bamboo to create its architectural pieces, and all their products are handmade by locals of Korakot’s own community.
Krakot is located outside of Bangkok, at 335 m 10 banlam banlam Phetchaburi 76110.
