SG.ID Seen is a regular column on Home & Decor, where we pick out some of the most interesting home interior projects completed by designers in Singapore and share what we like about them.
Curves seem to be coming back to interior design in a big way, from arches to rounded edges and sensual circular motifs seen in the detailing. In this particular home, the design team from Koze Studios helped this homeowner achieve a warm and welcoming look by adding curved elements into its Scandinavian-influenced design. Read on to find out why this project made it into our SG:ID Seen of the week.
In the dining room, we can see the excellent use of light woody tones and white walls to create a simple and natural feel to the space. The corners in the alcove and side shelving has been rounded off to create a rustic hacienda-like style. Apart from the curved corners, the rest of the straight lines running throughout the space helps to add structure and a sense of dimension to the simplicity of the layout.

The kitchen area takes on a similar look with the use of the same wood laminate. We are digging the look of the stone backsplash, which complements the counter material perfectly. Even though the flooring between the dining area and the kitchen is different, the colours are close enough to create visual flow from one space to the next.

The dining area in this Executive Mansionette is situated by the entrance of the home, facing the kitchen. Nevertheless, the entrance area feels open and inviting, thanks to the use of ambient lighting in this area. Notice how the ceiling is also clad in a similar wood finish.

The wood laminate that runs from the cabinetry up over the ceiling above the dining area helps to bring the entire look together. There is a sense of continuity to the design, accented by the black elements.

The choice of the light-coloured stone material for the backsplash and the countertop remains in keeping with the earthy hues seen in the cabinetry and throughout the rest of the home. It also helps to open up the long kitchen layout, making it feel wider and more spacious.

Attention to detail meant that the design team also had to select the choice of detailing carefully. You can see that in the intricate scale-patterns on the door handles of the cabinets in the dining area. The concealed backlighting also helps to add depth to the whole space.

A gently curving wall opens up to join the dining area with the living area. Instead of traditional doors, the team created a seamless look down the entire all by concealing all the doors by using the same finish as the wall.

This bedroom design takes on a slightly darker look compared to the common spaces in the home. The textured wall design pairs beautifully with the darkwood cabinetry.

Once again, the use of soft backlighting helps to brighten up this side shelf, visually enlarging the look of the window space.

Bluetiles seen in this bathroom add a quirky contrast to the light colours in the living area, but it’s an easy yet effective way to create spatial zones throughout the home.

The entrance to the master bathroom is concealed behind a sliding fluted panel, which covers the entire wall. This is a great way to close off the bathroom in a small bedroom layout.

Functionality takes precedence in the master bath, we see the use of durable materials, from the tiles to the countertop, giving this utilitarian space a comforting feel.
