Sona Decor Singapore speaks with the founder of Crystal Sinclair Designs to learn more about the inspiration behind the New York City home of a producer and his family.
Removed from the bling of the entertainment industry, J.B. Miller — an Emmy-Award winning producer, and president and CEO of Empire Entertainment, which has presented musical artists such as Alicia Keys, Elton John and Rihanna, as well as famous comedians and speakers — and his wife Maggie, chose the charming village of Larchmont, north of New York City, to raise their two children in a peaceful environment.
Victorian House Built in 1888, New York City
Looking for the perfect family home, they opted for a Victorian house built in 1888 that they decided to renovate to fit their needs and make it correspond to their taste.
Based in New York, the team of Crystal Sinclair Designs led by Crystal Sinclair and her husband, Ben, tackled the challenge of meeting the owners’ tight deadline.

“We began work at the beginning of 2022 and wrapped up the main floor in October,” remembers Crystal. “We needed to have the kitchen complete for move-in and we had 80 per cent of the furniture delivered and installed before that time too.”
The project, however, ran pretty smoothly. While the designers are still renovating the basement — where a fun play gym will be installed, as well as an office — the main interior spaces feature their new look.
Camaleonda Sofa
The starting point for Crystal was the idea of a beautiful tapestry combined with a Camaleonda-style sofa, basing her inspiration on “old world meets the new world.” According to her, “that pairing is what everything is based off of.”
Different materials and textures were combined in every nook.
Soft, Blue Tones
Mainly neutral, the color palette comprises different tones of blue for a soft and organic feel. Wood, chrome, boucle and velvet are some of the materials that combine throughout and reinforce the mix of classic pieces with modern touches.
Designer Furniture
Part of the interior designer’s CSD rug collection, the rugs add more texture while boldness was achieved through some of the furniture and decorative elements, including the wallpaper in the dining room.

Family-friendly and welcoming, the home is ideal for both entertaining and everyday life with kids.
While the interiors feel calm, some surprising elements throughout make the home “sing” according to Crystal, and this is what gives the house its enigmatic magic.
