You might have heard about the Scan-dustrial (Scandinavian + Industrial) fad, which had all the new homeowners asking for it in 2016.
Later in 2017, a new interior design trend emerged from the constantly evolving home styles seen around the region. It was a combination of the Modern Minimalist look redefined with an unfinished appeal that’s influenced by the Industrial style.
Artist Couple’s Home
This apartment home designed by HongKong-based MNB Design Studio epitomises the Modern Minimalist and Industrial interior design style perfectly, thanks to the homeowner couple who happens to both be artists with a passion for natural materials, seamless designs and a raw and unfinished aesthetic.
Living Room
In the living room, natural plywood is used extensively throughout and left in its unfinished state. The resulting look is an overwhelming sense of warmth and cosiness.
Concrete Wall Accents
The simple design of the wall cladding complements the concrete accents on the walls.
3 Colours for Interiors
Three main colours, beige, grey and white combine to form the colour scheme for the home. This simplicity creates a seamless look allowing the spaces to flow effortlessly from one area to another.
Master Bedroom
Here in the master bedroom, the bed is positioned on a raised platform, with ample storage space created underneath.
Simple Interior Design
At a glance, one can see how to simple design helps to make the apartment look and feel larger than its 753 sq ft (70 sqm) size.
Unfinished Look
In line with the ‘unfinished’ look the couple desires, the design team also created a pitched roof structure leaving the walls uncovered. Within the outline of the structure is the dining area.
Dining Table Bench
A cantilever concrete bench is built into the wall, creating ample seating space on one side of the dining table.

In the guest room, the bed is built around a series of hollow wooden boxes. The boxes transform into shelving space as well as a place for hanging clothes in the room.
Bathroom
In the bathroom, the sink area is separated from the rest of the bathroom with an entryway in a gable-shaped opening.

Hanging Wooden Beams
The clever creation of hanging spaces make this design even more impressive.
Study Table with Storage
The design team also customised a study table, complete with storage space.
Kitchen
The pared-back look extends to the kitchen, where everything looks neat and tidy.
Bathroom
In one corner of the bathroom, one finds the washing machine lined up next to the shower area.
Cement Wall
The white cement wall brightens up the space in the daytime.
Marble Countertop
Notice how the white marble countertop adds another layer of beauty and texture to the minimalist bathroom space.
Bathroom Storage
Behind the mirror, which covers the entire length of the wall in front of the sink, are storage areas for toiletries.
