Interior design firm Collective Designs has made this an example of the contemporary Singapore home.
Cool marble flooring, light-colored walls, and minimalist openings blend with local design elements that include Peranakan-inspired features, as well as the use of bronze and wood.
Its interior style makes art, furniture, and sculptures essential considerations.
More storage space
The brief for this Bukit Timah cluster townhouse – home to a couple with two young children and two helpers – called for more storage solutions, particularly in the kitchen, to meet the family’s needs.
They required the storage space to “extend into the dining area unobtrusively”.
The team aimed for a seamless look for the storage cabinets stretching from the kitchen to the dining area.
The cabinets’ white finish brightens up the space, while glass sliding doors allow the kitchen to meld visually with the dining area. As for the air well, the team roofed it over with glass.
It is now part of the entertainment room, making it significantly larger. A courtyard with streamlined furniture gives the family a quiet spot to lounge in.
Quartz kitchen countertop
The roomy kitchen by Mudian is fitted with Technistone quartz countertops and appliances from Bosch and De Dietrich.
Ventilation blocks
Paying homage to Singapore’s heritage, Collective Designs constructed a wall out of ventilation blocks. The bricks are a focal point and partition while allowing air and light through.
Monochromatic art such as calligraphy on the walls is in keeping with the black and white palette.
Study room
This study area is part of the children’s playroom. Storage solutions accommodate the children’s changing needs.
Master bedroom
The master suite connects to a spacious walk-in wardrobe with customized solutions, including shelves for handbags, double-hanging storage for shirts and pants, and drawers.
A marble-finished and vanity adds a luxurious touch.
While streamlined and fuss-free, the home is unmistakably elegant, thanks to the premium materials and thoughtful design ideas. Every element ties in beautifully together for a cohesive look.
