Home to a marketing executive and lawyer, this 100sqm apartment in Gallop Gables is both practical and playful.
Most of their design brief to Studio Super Safari included a reconfiguration of space. They wanted their kitchen to be bright and airy, but also enclosed at the same time since they did lots of cooking. Other requirements were more wardrobe space for the master bedroom, as well as a study space in the living area. They wanted to protect the existing marble floor as well, so Studio Super Safari had to exercise extreme care when doing major construction works like hacking the walls.
To create a cooking space that was functional but also allowed more light to pass through, Studio Super Safari hacked down the existing kitchen walls. In its place, they put up a sliding glass door, as well as a sliding glass window on top of the peninsula counter, so that they can be opened up when not in use.

They also carved out a nook that serves as a desk in the living room. When not in use, this pulls double duty as extra countertop space.

To incorporate more wardrobe space, the wall between the living room and master bedroom was removed and a full-height wardrobe installed in its stead. They also used metal laminates for the handles, which pop against the dark wood and add a luxe touch.

Since the homeowners also wanted some playful elements, Studio Super Safari added visually interesting elements in the form of brightly-patterned tiles for the bar face and backsplash in the kitchen.

The bright and airy bathroom features similarly textured tiles, but in a neutral hue for a relaxing ambience. Here, shelves are built into the shower wall and the mirror to save space.
