Zinc roofing, galvanised metal shelving, exposed wiring and raw plywood – these aren’t elements you would normally see in someone’s residence, certainly not in a swanky 500 sq ft (46 sqm) condominium apartment in the Farrer Road area.
However, given the right treatment, they elevate this small apartment’s interiors far beyond its conventional aesthetics.
Second Home to Host Friends
The second home to a single lady, the apartment is used as a “transit” home for the owner’s visiting business partners and friends.
Removing the dividing bedroom wall freed up more space for moving within the home.

Custom 4-Metre Sofa
The 4-metre long upholstered customised sofa is made of raw plywood, with open shelving built-in all round the back and sides for storage.

Original Raw Cement Screed
Interior designer Mark Yong of interior design firm Musuem is particularly happy with the red wiring on the ceiling.
When his workers were scraping off the peeling ceiling plaster during the renovation (which cost $50,000), Mark discovered the raw cement screed underneath and decided to keep it.
