What comes to mind when someone mentions “American style interiors”?
Does it make you think of the homes in Manhattan, New York, or the super-expensive penthouses along Fifth Avenue?
This family that relocated from America wanted their new home in Southeast Asia to remind them of their home in USA, and that was the look they requested from design firm T.M. Design Studio.
Grey Walls, White Skirting
There are some elements that are distinctly American, namely the way the colours are chosen so that they contrast ever so slightly, such as the white skirting with the grey walls, and the use of wainscotting.
Stylish Manhattan Suite
But what really makes this living room look like a stylish Manhattan suite, is the way the materials (leather, marble and wood) mix so harmoniously and the selected of oversized seating appointments, such as the plush and tufted sofa.
White Marble Wall
The wall is partially covered in white marble, reflecting the same look used in the counter nearby.
A wooden table extends beyond the counter, creating a casual dining area with ample space for up to 10 people.
Soft Bedroom
In the bedroom, the colours are kept soft, with details added in the cabinetry and the walls to create depth and character.
Soft Teal on Black Marble
The soft teal contrasts against the black marble veins at the back of the shelf.
Notice how the walls are kept free of artworks so that the soft colours really come through.
Side Table Downlight
A downlight creates drama in one corner of the bedroom next to the wardrobe.
By using a muted colour scheme, the interiors look modern and sophisticated.
Concrete and Marble
The slab-matched marble on the wall and the concrete-screed floors add a dash of contemporary elegance to the space.
The furniture was carefully chosen so that the lines would reflect the simplicity of the interiors.
Kitchen Cabinet
In the kitchen, white subway tiles add interest to the backsplash.
Study Corner
In the study corner, the same white marble is used to line the table top and wall.
