Most people dream of having an open-concept kitchen featuring a bar or island counter, but also need an enclosed space to do heavy-duty cooking. When this homeowner had the same request for his 118sqm home in Ritz Regency, Caine Cheong of Ideasxchange proved it possible by reconfiguring the layout to include both a bar and wet kitchen.
To accommodate the homeowner’s request for ample entertaining and cooking space, Caine removed the walls of the kitchen, service yard, and helper’s room. As a result, the home now has a bar area where he can entertain friends and family, and a separate wet kitchen where he can also cook. The open layout helps the spaces to flow seamlessly into each other without seeming cramped.

Geometric accents feature throughout the home. Taking pride of place is a feature wall with a gold geometric pattern, which also cleverly conceals the household shelter.
Although the decor is mostly contemporary, other themes come into play too. The carved coffee table, for instance, stands out as a unique piece that contrasts with the modern space. In the dining area, a long walnut table – reminiscent of farmhouse kitchens — adds a rustic touch. These wooden pieces also balance out and bring warmth to the cool palette of the home.

In the bedroom, Caine created plenty of storage space in the form of a cabinet over the bedhead, as well as next to the bay window. A small lit alcove within the cabinet functions as both display shelf and nightstand.

The cool gray palette continues in the master room, lending an air of serenity punctuated by the art on the walls.

A full-length wardrobe mirror visually expands the bedroom space.

Echoing the decor of the living room, the bathroom also features a wall with geometric accents, done up in the same cool shades of gray as the bedroom. There’s also plenty of storage space here, thanks to the cabinetry and built-in vanity.
