This 1,200sqf five-room HDB flat is home to newly-wed dentists.
Designed by Krays Lee of The Scientist, it has a fun and quirky look, with lots of colour and patterned tiles.
Patterned Tiles
The use of many different patterned tiles, even juxtaposed with each other, creates bold interiors, but they were also used to help zone the open-concept living areas.
Living Room
The original kitchen wall and floor tiles were hacked, to open up the space and give it a fresher look.
One of the bedrooms was also removed, in order to have a larger master bedroom with a spacious dressing area.
Open Concept Kitchen
A wash of deep blue highlights the open kitchen area, which features an island counter.
This allows interaction while using the kitchen, which is important to the homeowners as they enjoy entertaining.
Pendant Lights
An assortment of pendant lamps help ground the open dining area. Bright yellow dining chairs add colour to the space.
Concrete Screed
As the homeowners wanted to have a touch of industrial style in the home, the designer incorporated a concrete screed finish for part of the kitchen wall, and tiles to match the look.
Kitchen Carpentry
Laminate was used to finish the kitchen cabinetry, and Caesarstone engineered quartz was used for the countertops.
The floor and wall tiles are from Hafary.
Study Room
The study features grey striped tiles laid in a quarter-turn format, for a more interesting look.
Bedroom
Old-school looking mosaic tiles lead into the bedroom.
Mosaic Tiles
Contrasting with the mosaic tiles, simple dark slate-look tiles cover most of the bedroom floor. A deep, dusty blue wall backdrops the space.
Bathroom
The bathrooms were designed to look sophisticated and modern, inspired by trendy boutique hotels.
A dark colour scheme was chosen, with lighting to play up the mood of the space.
Dark Subway Tiles
As for the common bathroom, subway tiles arranged like bricks clad the walls, giving the space a trendy, yet timeless, look.
