Do you feel stressed and think of work, even when you’re lounging at home? Your choice of furniture could be to blame.
Enter ACTUS häuse which is all about promoting a relaxed lifestyle, similar to the Nordic concept of hygge.
“In fast-paced Singapore, we are advocating a slow life, slow house concept,” says Andrew Tan, founder of atomi, who also brought in ACTUS.
“We want to create a personal refuge for our customers.” Established in 1969, ACTUS is known for bringing European-style furniture to the Japanese market.
Today, ACTUS has gone beyond furniture, to offer everyday household products, food items and even renovation services. ACTUS häuse is the first outside of Japan to carry their collection exclusively.
In Singapore, the range includes tableware, rugs, dining chairs and wall paper, right down to cowhide leather sofas.
Whereas atomi focuses solely on all things made in Japan, ACTUS’s items are sourced from around the world, such as the kids’ collection from the Netherlands to home accessories from Denmark. A children’s room and a cosy living room have been recreated within the showroom for customers to see how the pieces from ACTUS can fit into their own homes.

In Japan, there are also ACTUS cafes, and Mr Tan plans to open a similar one in Singapore within the next one year. “Hopefully, we can find the right location, and put together a winning team. This is going to be the place where everything on display will be from ACTUS and atomi,” he says.
Visit ACTUS häuse at Mandarin Gallery, #04-28.
