In celebration of Louis Vuitton’s bicentennial birthday last year, the brand invited 200 creatives and friends of the Maison to design their visions on the iconic Louis Vuitton trunk. Similar to the emblematic Louis Vuitton trunk created in the 1850s, the 200 trunks are a blank canvas of approximately 50 by 50 by 100cm each.

Paying homage to Louis’ visionary creative spirit, 200 Trunks 200 Visionaries ran for three months at the founder’s historic home in Asnières, Paris.
The exhibition will make its first international stop at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands this April in a custom-built Damier façade alternating with windows adjacent to Louis Vuitton’s storefront. The streamlined structure conveys the Maison’s signature graphic while offering views between the exterior and interior. From an aerial perspective, Louis 200 appears boldly across the roof.
Visitors will start their journey in a room panelled with LED screens and move through dedicated spaces with interactive features, including a robot-trunk of Louis representing a futuristic transfiguration of object and creator. The visionary trunks staggered here are stacked upon their assigned shipping crates at various heights.
Next, visitors will go through an open dreamscape panorama before the circuit ends with two dedicated rooms: First, an interactive space featuring the trunk by BTS, each member contributing one side. These designs have been reproduced on the walls with space for visitors to add their own creations.
Finally, visitors dive into immersive spaces where objects, video interviews and books will be on display, alongside an audio speakeasy with a 200-track jukebox trunk, designed by British music producer and DJ, Benji B.
200 Trunks 200 Visionaries is open from Apr 4 to Apr 27 at Marina Bay Sands. Opening hours are 6pm to 10pm on Apr 4 and 10am to 10pm from Apr 5 to 27. The exhibition is free of charge and open to the public. Register at LOUISVUITTON.com from Apr 1.
