Interior designer Kelly Hoppen needs no introduction. Her career in interior design started at the age of 16, and 40 years on, she is one of the most celebrated and sought after interior designers in the world.
Her projects number in the thousands and include award-winning homes, yachts, private jets, hotels, restaurants and offices.
In 2009, she was conferred an MBE, a top British honour, for her exceptional service to interior design.

Central London Home
Her 9,000 sq ft (836 sqm) home in Central London pays homage to her talent and showcases her signature style that fuses Eastern simplicity with Western luxury.
The neutral and calm colour palette conveys a timeless and understated elegance, and this is complemented by pops of colour, as well as an array of textures that enrich the space with a new dimension.
Bonham Auction House, London
Previously a Bonham auction house, the property was an empty shell, which presented a blank canvas for Kelly to play with different materials and textures.
The living area reflects Kelly’s love for hosting. Wooden panels were clad over the existing columns and continue on the underside of beams to create a framing grid effect that adds monumentality to the space.
Due to the vastness of the open-plan interior, balance was key to its design. Kelly achieved this by deliberately lowering the bespoke pendant lights above the seating area.
The glass bubbles appear to be floating, balancing the composition with their ephemeral quality and maintaining the visual continuity with their transparency.

Entrance Hall
The entrance hall is fashioned after the designer’s famous grid, reinforced by the vertical lines of a bespoke Herve Langlais for Galerie Negropontes light that also emphasises the height of the ceiling, large vertical shutters and rectangular lines in the marble floor.

Downlight LED Bars
Instead of chandeliers, two bars filled with downlights help to cast an atmospheric glow onto the dining table below.

Pendant Lights
Organically shaped light bulbs add another layer of mystique over the pendant lights.

Soft Flower Decor
In line with Kelly’s iconic design philosophy, the bold accents are softened with traces of flowers, plants and elegant ornaments.

Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is located upstairs and overlooks the expansive living space below.
A rectangular portal frame similar to the ones in the living room arches directly over the bed.
While those in the living area complement its loftiness, here, in the bedroom, the effect of the lowered ceiling mitigates the scale and creates a notional delineation of the sleeping area that imbues it with the calming feel of a reassuring embrace.
Adding symmetry to the room are bedside lamps from Ochre against a backdrop of ribbed panels flanking either side of the bed.

Master Bathroom
The master bath was conceived to arouse a cocooning sensation conveyed through the dialogue between the free-standing bath that Kelly designed in collaboration with Australian bathware designer Apaiser, and the Niamh Barry loop chandelier suspended directly above the tub.
Elevated on a marble platform with concealed floor lighting, the contemplative effect of the space is heightened to evoke a meditative lightness.

Dressing Room
The spacious dressing room is decorated with large, sensual black-and-white photographs, including one of Kelly herself by David Bailey.
Her favourite pieces in this room are the stunning pendant lamps and the almost ceiling-height triple-sided mirror.

New Home, New Stage of Life
Swivel panels act as a partition between the living and private spaces.
This abode is a dream come true for her.
“My new home is very representative of me and where I am at this stage of my life. I was looking for something big and light and luxurious, and this space encompasses all of those things,” she says.
