Japanese lifestyle retailer Muji is fast becoming a household brand. Ironically, Muji – “no brand” in Japanese – is continually making its mark worldwide, with the announcement of Muji hotels to be launched in China and Japan, as well as the most recent opening of its Plaza Singapura store – the first and largest flagship in South-east Asia.
Spanning over 17,000sqf, this outlet not only houses Muji’s usual range of minimalist, no-frills household items, beauty products, snacks, travel accessories and apparels, but also its new clothing and furniture lines — Muji Labo and Idee, respectively.
An interior brand from Tokyo, Idee provides a collection that ranges from leather sofas, wood coffee tables, to bath accessories, and even gardening products. Some pieces were designed in collaboration with up-and-coming designers worldwide, while still embodying Muji’s design DNA. The store also offers the largest furniture range available in any Muji outlet in Singapore.
To further maximise the shopping experience, complimentary home furnishing consultation is provided by in-house interior advisors.
As the first-of-its-kind in a Muji store here, the embroidery station is where shoppers can customise any Muji apparel or textile purchased. Choose from over 200 designs and letterings, including an exclusive Singapore-only Merlion logo for when you’re feeling patriotic! There’s even a dedicated space – Open Muji – where design-related events such as workshops, exhibitions and talks can be conducted, as the brand seeks to provide a platform where designers and consumers can engage in design dialogue.
Fill your tummy afterwards at The Cafe&Meal Muji. With a creative installation made using acrylic and LED lights, the dining area complements the store’s cosy ambience. With so much to see and buy, be prepared to spend a couple of hours there!
