Greenery may be trending, but using shades of green to create timeless interiors can be difficult if you don’t know how to apply it correctly.
For this residential project, RSRG Architects worked with landscape artist Daniela Ruiz to renovate a home that combines a bohemian industrial edginess with cheery shades of green.
Hacked Kitchen Walls
In order to let in plenty of natural daylight into the home, the architects decided to break down several walls separating the living room from the kitchen and lounge.
Doing this allowed them to create a spacious and open kitchen, helmed by a gorgeous island counter draped in jade green hue.
Balanced Mix of Colours
Bits of green can be seen in the painting on the wall in the living room, as well as from the antique rug on the floor. The stunning wooden shelf and the white walls help to balance out the colours.
Floating Storage Shelf
This is a great way to make use of the wall area in the living room: Design a floating shelf that spans the entire length of the wall. This way, it makes the room look more spacious and gives the storage area a weightless feel.
Ceiling Beams
One gets a sense of the original layout of the apartment by looking at the positions of the beams on the ceiling.
Exposed Brick Wall
When the architects were tearing down the walls, they realised that the original brickwork looked beautiful and ought to be preserved, so they decided to keep the brick walls exposed in some parts of the home to showcase the lovely ‘bones’ of the house.
Brick Wall Bedroom
The rough wall contrasts beautifully against the intricate carvings of the bed.
Exposed Brick Wall in Bedroom
When you have a feature wall that looks as captivating as this brick wall, the trick to styling it is to keep the surrounding simple and pared-down.
Bedroom
Hints of blue, which is a complementary shade to green, help to zone the sleeping area apart from the other spaces in the home.
Master Bathroom
Green tiles and plants in the master bathroom brighten up the private sanctuary.
Bathroom
A large green box under the sink offers space for holding fresh towels and toiletries, keeping the bathroom neat and clutter-free.
