This 5-room HDB resale executive flat is truly a spacious abode! Designed by Mark Chen of Artistroom, an open-concept kitchen blends seamlessly into its surrounding spaces including the living and dining rooms.
The original kitchen in the home is now a dedicated service yard, and the new kitchen sits right behind the brightly coloured sofa in the living room.
The homeowners — a couple — wanted lots of gathering areas in their home as they host often.
All-White Walls
The walls were kept white, while furnishings and built-in features in wood accented finishes stand out against the background.
Kitchen for Light Cooking
As the couple does not do heavy cooking, having a fully open kitchen was not a major issue. Square white tiles with dark grouts make the backsplash an eye-catching feature wall too.
Master Bathroom
The master bathroom has a darker colour palette, chosen to complement the monochromatic Peranakan-inspired patterned tiles. This spacious bathroom has been reconfigured to lend additional floor space from the original master bedroom.
Mark also incorporated the walk-in wardrobe into this space, as seen on the left. The doors are clad with a weathered look laminate to add texture.
Bathroom Glass Walls
The wall between the bathroom and bedroom is replaced with an aluminum framed glass to open up both spaces for a seamless look.
