The world’s best furniture trade shows were either postponed, cancelled or migrated online last year. Founded in 1978 and held annually in London, Decorex International is one of Europe’s leading trade shows for luxury interior design that usually attracts over 400 exhibitors and 15,000 visitors each year.
It made its online debut on Nov 17 last year in a three-day virtual event with exhibitions, networking sessions and inspiring talks on some of the most pressing issues in interior design.
Highlights included five 360-degree interactive curated spaces with the theme Happy Places by five of the most exciting interior practices in the region and, of course, a slew of innovative and inspiring new products. Here are ten of our picks.

Recognising the negative impact of using vinyl for her prints, Anna has experimented with recycled and biosynthetic fibres to create masterpieces for the home that both look good and do good.

Ranging from armchairs, tables and shelving to paperweights, bookends and bell jars, the collection uses materials made with seashells like the scallop shell and abalone and Capiz shells sourced from the Philippines, as well as goose quills that are the byproduct of the meat and bedding industries.
The result is a highly tactile range with a playful, iridescent quality that embodies a more sustainable approach in furniture design.

The soft but robust yarn that went into their assembly was made of discarded polythene components processed with heat and water. Offering greater durability, its appearance is almost indistinguishable from wool. More pluses: it is resistant to spills and fading. Also, according to the brand, it can be cleaned with bleach.

HORO LAMP COLLECTION BY PIERRE GONALONS FOR MASIERO
Taking its cues from vintage style, Horo by Pierre Gonalons for Italian brand Masiero is a striking new lighting collection featuring glass discs and brushed brass. The design took the depiction of the sun as a circle and related icons like the sun god Ra as its starting point.
The overall design is sleek and modern, while the finishes feel more vintage. Despite the very slim profile, Horo has a remarkably 3D quality. Illuminated more brightly at the edges, the discs can appear almost globe-like.
The double light sources give it the unique look of a diffused glow as well as a soft directed light. “The glass itself is textured with a diamond pattern. This gives it a vintage flavour that I like so much,” says Pierre.

MUNA BY DANILO DE ROSSI FOR ITALAMP
Designed by Italian designer Danilo Rossi for Italamp, Muna is a pendant light that combines two contrasting glass elements to achieve an ethereal look inspired by the moon and the cosmos.
The inner glass sphere is blown ruled glass with crystal particles that create a faded white finish with a crackling texture and a graduating blue hue, while the outer glass dome is made of clear borosilicate glass.
The combination of the two creates an effect akin to the moon floating in space while captured in a dome. Muna is available in two sizes and features an integrated warm white LED.

PASSAGE RATTAN DOUBLE HEADBOARD BY EMILIE CERIEZ FOR ORCHID EDITION
Belgian designer Emilie Ceriez combines cane framework and open webbing to design the Passage headboard for luxury rattan furniture brand Orchid Edition. Comprising two single bed wing panels, the double headboard can accommodate mattresses from a single bed up to king-size (180cm). The outside cane frame can be used to attach or clamp a bedside lamp.
“Passage is a natural rattan composition playing with hollow or solid surfaces. Intertwined frames give this headboard a sense of lightness, as if drifting in the air,” says Emilie. “Started like an artwork from sketches with outlines and forms, it eventually evolved into a real product with a function. The outside frame where a clamp lamp can be fixed is holding the inside headrest in open webbing.

HARDY COLLECTION BY DAVID IRWIN FOR ANOTHER COUNTRY
Furniture brand Another Country uses sustainably sourced timber and all-natural fibres for its products, whose aesthetic draws from the minimalism and functionality of the Shaker style as well as Scandinavian and Japanese design.
David Irwin’s Hardy Collection references two design typologies of the 19th century – Thomas Hardy’s birth century.
“I have kept one eye on the past and one in the present, utilising time-honoured Windsor chair making techniques to create a range that has a vague element of nostalgia but still retains a contemporary aesthetic and relevance for today’s environments,” says David.
